Removal of Weight from Identification & Player Creation
Virwëtztut replied to Virwëtztut's topic in Suggestions
I didn't mean for all physical traits, just weight. Apparently weight is something you see a couple of United States IDs. [Probably so you aren't accidentally directed to weigh stations] On the same coin, NSB will detain a military member if they forgot to change their weight when their character was made. Not every person will take the time to sit through the character creation menu on their first join of the server and would rather get out into the environment as soon as possible. 1. Realism only applies if it’s accurate. In most real systems, weight is not a reliable identifier—passports don’t list it, many IDs omit it, and even when listed it’s almost always outdated. 2. True, but the reverse also applies: having weight on IDs discourages descriptive RP because people rely on the number instead of engaging with character description. 3. That’s exactly why weight on IDs is problematic. A description like “muscular build” or “slim” is flexible, fits RP. 4. It’s not about grasping—it’s about removing unnecessary friction for new players. Height can stay; it’s stable, actually affects appearance, and useful. Weight is variable, invisible, and often misused. 5. You wouldn't be able to change where you're from on a whim. At the moment you can't even change your ID so that if your weight is wrong, you can't fix it. Don't know how you got that take from the question. Good for you? I guess it's good that the policing agencies in your area trust you not to eat too much so that the information is still valid. When you make your character your height actually effects your model. If you put 6'2: You're going to be taller than another male_07. If you put 5'5: You're going to be shorter than another male_07. I guess I should specify, I have seen military police and NSB detain other members of factions for their weight. -
Removal of Weight from Identification & Player Creation

IDs actually do carry physical information. One of the key points to identifying people. Minges typically put un-realistic weight. It's not on the person to judge someone different if they fill into a very common stereotype. I think if people can't figure out a scroll wheel mechanic in their character creation they will have a much harder time past that point in this type of roleplay... IDs shouldn't be for aesthetic, and they are pretty realistic. People can still have descriptive... Descriptions.. having in tune IDs shouldn't stop anyone from doing that! All descriptions are in character. No matter what they are describing. Again people won't survive on this server if they can't grasp the concept of setting a weight and height. People shouldn't just be able to change where they are from on a whim... LOL Mine does Now how will they rely on height if somebody doesn't include it in their description It's not lol -

The Removal of Weight from Identification & Player Creation Reasons of Removal: 1. IDs are not full medical charts. Identity cards whether they be passports, drivers' licenses, or military IDs do not hold information like weight solely because it is one of the thing in someone's appearance that is bound to fluctuation. 2. Provides easy targeting. Players often use ID weight to make snap judgments about the body, even when roleplay doesn't support it. It becomes a sort of "stat check" rather than RP conversation. Even if your description says you are of a different weight. (Your papers say 50 pounds, but you have 126 pounds in your description.) 3. Confusion to new players. There have been plenty of times where new players have been turned away from factions due to a weight that they might've not seen or forgotten to change. It becomes a bit of a hassle to have a recruit go make a new character and come back if their weight is not substantial. This may also deter certain people from wanting to participate in the Roleplay. Benefits of Removal: - Makes an ID cleaner and more realistic. - Encourages descriptive RP rather than stats being numbers in desc. - Reduces using someone's description that would be invisible outside of physical presence. - Less Friction for New Players not understanding the questions being asked or their importance. - Allows for a question to replace it, such as: Date of Birth/Place of Birth. Possible Rebuttals: 1. "It adds realism." As I have stated before: Most identification cards regardless of country do not include weight because it changes so often. RP immersion is better served by letting characters on their own. 2. "It helps identify better." Policing agencies can already rely on height, physical descriptions, or player model. Weight on an ID is unreliable for these scenarios. 3. "It's harmless flavor." If it were truly harmless, then it wouldn't be an arrestable offense. Additional Information: Potentially, we could change weight entirely to a field/drop down question like: "What build do you have?" - Stocky - Slim - Broad

Your Name: Needle cat/Ludvig Schaisser SteamID (STEAM_0:X:XXX): STEAM_0:1:147572370 Appeal Type (Apology or Dispute): Dispute Which staff member banned you?: Major Whoreson How long is your ban for?: 2 weeks Why were you banned?: Banned for RDM during a raid. I shot a guard who shot at us first, and then I shot at Major Whoreson who wasn't reacting to my bullets. Why do you deserve to be unbanned?: I feel this ban is unfair for a few reasons. First, my ping is consistently around 180ms. In the chaos of the raid, with shots already being fired, it's possible there was some de sync or lag on my end that made the situation with Major Whoreson look different than what was actually happening. I saw a hostile looking player and reacted to the threat, but the lag might have prevented me from seeing that he wasn't a part of it. Secondly, while I understand a rule was broken, the punishment feels extreme for a first time offense during active RP, especially when it seems like other rules like NLR or car misuse are broken all the time without the same level of punishment. I've seen people with car permits just drive around running people over without any RP, or people clearly ignoring NLR, and it feels like they don't get banned for it. It's frustrating to be banned so quickly for a mistake I feel was influenced by lag and the heat of the moment in a legitimate RP scenario, when other more blatant rulebreaks seem to go unchecked. I was genuinely engaged in the server's RP and would like a chance to come back. Additional Information: I apologize for my part in the situation. I should have been more aware. But I hope you can see my side that the ban feels disproportionate, especially for a new player trying to learn the server. I'm not trying to cause trouble, I just want a fair chance to play like everyone else.

Hey, thanks for the appeal. While I appreciate the apology, there's a few things I would like to clarify with you. First, you need to fix your steam id. It should be in the format STEAM_0:X:XXX. Secondly, your previous offenses are always going to affect punishments, especially when you have as many POs as you do. Finally, it doesn't mean it's okay to break the rules when you see others do it. When other people do it, you need to make a ticket to make sure our guidelines are enforced. It's an expectation that everyone who plays the server reads over the rules, and does their best to uphold them. Now I understand mistakes happen, and I believe this is your first infraction of this type. Therefore, I am leaving this decision up to UA, but I do believe you deserve a bit of a shorter ban. Just remember to read over the rules, and make sure you understand them. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here or message a member of staff to answer them.

After a conversation was had with Prime you are going to be unbanned, but this will also serve as a reminder to not go around acting out of line and not roleplaying, especially not throwing around racial slurs, so think about what's been said here and act better next time. Approved.
-
After reviewing this appeal and looking through the evidence provided by Patrick, its clear that you did in fact break FearRP hence why you're character was PK'd, therefore this appeal is: Denied.
-
Denied This was a blatant break of Fear RP that ultimately cost your life. This PK was valid.
