Has there ever been a suggestion for a weather system?

IDK if its just me but it being 75 degrees and partially sunny everyday is getting annoying. i want some fog in berlin or rain or whatever. just putting it out there

Rain and fog would give me an excuse to LaPo for bowling into 3 people, so certainly a +1 from me

I remember some technical limitations being the main factor it isn't implemented, same with a day and night system. Either the server restarts onto a new map when changing daylight or a buggy addon is used.
While I'm here, bring back the Lentz elevator in the GSD building! And the ICC bridge!

+1 for simple weather system, -1 for anything complex or a day/night system.

I never wanted a day or night system, i just want rain

So i decided that since no one has ever made a suggestion for weather i will be the start

What i think the server should add is a simple weather system UA can access to add rain snow or fog

all it does is just add effects around the map. no real map changes but it can make where there could be more RP scenario's, specifaclly in driving

Lapo can be able to make warnings about rain or ice

Maybe people make umbrella props

this is a very raw suggestion and i will refrine if this catches attention

Yea thats understandable, this server is very picky about suggestions but i think there are ways that can make this suggestion a reality

maybe using ingame tools can help since fog and sun can be affected with the tools already in gmod

As cool as the idea is, what's the point of weather? Will it impact RP? Will players get sick for standing in the rain or snow? How will cars handle in the weather?

While i dont think weather could ever get players sick, since you cant even get sick in the server. a weather system would be purely visual but it could give some RP to players as lapo can shut down roads for snow or rain. im willing to take any feedback on this so i can make an actual suggestion. this thread is feedback only

Thank you for the reply, Mr Trevor Lawrence PHD.

When I commented I was merely trying to visualize what your idea would look like fully realized.

While yes players don't get traditionally sick aside from drug withdrawal if a weather system were to be implemented I would assume that would also bring illness often associated with standing in intense weather. This is a serious RP server after all and I would think it unrealistic NOT to get sick from standing in the rain, snow ect.

 

 

Edit: to clarify I'm not trying to attack your suggestion. Just trying to see the pros and cons.

I think it would be great if this server had ways to get sick

but the problem is sickness is not a thing in this server yet so im trying to implement weather with the things we already have. if sickness is added, WHICH IT SHOULD. then i will add that to the suggestion but for now we can only go with the visual suggestion
