Description of the Suggestion;
The creation and implementation of a tiered tool system for mining, of which the higher more expensive/technical tools make mining significantly quicker whilst the standard tools remain the same.

IE the following tools:
Pickaxe;
The standard pickaxe everyone has access to from the General Store. Same hit rate, same mining rate. Slow, painful, labor intensive work.

Steel Hammer & Chisel;
A tool set that can be purchased from the general store. Faster hit rate, however the ore takes 5% more hits due to the increased hit speed, furthermore the chisel has a small chance of breaking which means the player will have to go purchase a new one, a tad more expensive than the pickaxe. Example picture below.

Auger;
A tool set which can only be acquired from the Ministry of Labor via a special vendor (Similar to the procurements) (usually this would connected up to a steam network however for simplicity throw that out the window and replace with an onboard fuel engine) requires gasoline canisters to run, a full can of gasoline fills the auger which can then run for 5-15 minutes when in use. Has the ability to overheat if used for too long (which may cause an explosion). Incredibly fast mining speed, however the ores are dropped on the ground instead of being placed in the users inventory, meaning a team will be needed if used rather than a solo miner. Furthermore it is incredibly loud, meaning it will draw attention to whoever is using it. This costs a lot to buy and run. Can be stolen or sold etc. Example picture below.

Why:
Given the nature and want for people to make vast amounts of money in game, for either war planning, bragging rights or just to have some loose cash lying around, the mining system is a great way to do this, even with its limits on how many people can mine at a time (Which has been reported and accepted as a bug). I feel, if this section is fleshed out some more with new tools, it may become one of the most favored methods of passively making money within the city, giving the mine more purpose and reason for people to actually go down there more than they already do.

TLDR:
Brings more people together in the mines to either work together, be a thieving scab or a work management team, as well as improving a section of passive money making that has been unilaterally asked for an update for quite some time.


Pros: 

-The Mining system will be used more.

-Gives diversity to the system which hasn't changed in over 4 years.

-Gives something for the Ministry of Labor to do officially.

-Increased RP for both passive and interactive situations.

-Fixes a documented bug.

 
Cons:

-Cost of development. (I’m sure people would crowd fund for it to be made or outright pay for it, as well for the “bug” to be fixed alongside the new tools being implemented.)

-Possible server lag. The mass amount of ores being dropped on the ground may cause lag (I doubt but you never know).

-Sweps and Models will have to be made. Meaning it will take time.
